Latitude: 27º 53’ 23”
Longitude: 87º 05’ 20”
Trip Duration: 55 Days

Ktm. - Tumlingtar - Chichila - Tashi Gaun - Merak - Makalu BC.

Mt. Makalu is the world's fifth highest peak, rising to 8,463 meters. This beautiful and impressive mauntain is situated just 14 miles east of Everest in  the Mahalangur Himalayan range. Its perfect pyramid shaped structure with four sharp ridges makes this mountain more spectacular though its size alone is impressive. Actually Makalu is a double peak. The secondary peak rising just north of the main summit connected by a saddle is called Chomolonzo (25,650 ft.). It is interesting to note that the summit ridge is the demarcation point indicating the border between Nepal on the Southern side and Tibet to the North.

Mt. Makalu has fixed five routes by every expedition team and four variations along with other interesting opportunities like the West Face, the Northeast from Nepal and North Flanks from Tibet. Our trek follows one of the most remote and unfrequented areas of Nepal. Starting to fly to Biratnagar and drive to Hile where we start to walk towards Arun River, we walk through the snow, rain and cloud prone Kauma. Base Camp is just south of the snout of the Barun Glacier at an elevation of 4823m. Finally, after the climbing of Mt. Makalu expedition, our trip will finish at Tumlingtar plateau where we take plane to fly in to Kathmandu directly.

Himalayan Yetiland Treks provides all necessary infrastructures to assist you in your summit attempt during this spring season. We will do the necessary paperwork for expedition permit organize all accommodation before and after expedition. We organize camp facilities, transport loads, stock and set up high camps, fix ropes, provide food, high altitude food, high quality tents, porters, professional Climbing Sherpas, oxygen, satellite telephone, Wake Talkie set, as well advice and assistance as per needed during the expedition.
