Kailash Mansarovar Trekking also possible via Simikot. Mount Kailash (Kangrinpoche) situated at western part of Tibet, has been considered sacred by Buddhists, Hindus, Jains and Bonpos for thousands of years. For Hindus and Buddhists it is the center of the Universe. It is atop this mountain that Lord Siva dwells in meditation. A pilgrimage to the mountain and around it is a sacred goal for the faithful. Pilgrims walking overland for weeks or months, feel they are really approaching the Center of the Universe as they reach Kailash. It has been a pilgrimage site for centuries. Mt. Kailash is also revered as the source of four of the great rivers of Asia, fueled by the waters of the nearby holy lake Mansarover. The rivers Indus, Bramhaputra (Tsangpo), Karnali (the sacred Ganges) and Sultej have their sources within sixty miles of the mountain. Holy Lake, Manasovar another attraction of this trek.
Trekking commences from Simikot where we reached by flight from Nepagunj, a far weastern city. After formalities in border, we cross Tibet, a dry land. Trail lead to Lake Mansovar where you can take bath, we make round of the Lake. You'll be headed to round Mount Kailash, most admired destination of trekking.
